A straight rye whiskey from WhistlePig, distilled from 100% rye and bottled uncut at barrel proof in a 75cl bottle. It is a companion release to Boss Hog VIII, themed around the first circumnavigation of the globe.
Eleven barrels of the Boss Hog VIII whiskey were sent to meet casks from the VII and VIII series, including Spanish oak, South American teakwood and Philippine rum barrels. The whiskey aged in Andalucia, Spain. It comes in a decanter topped with hand-cut pewter figures of Magellan and LapuLapu.
The official notes describe rye spice, dark caramel, vanilla, dried fruit and toasted oak on the nose. The palate brings cracked pepper, baking spice, toffee, honey and dark chocolate, and the finish is long, with spice, vanilla and molasses.
