A 12 year old rye whiskey from WhistlePig, aged in Maple Brûlée casks. The distillery made these custom casks using barrels that had previously held its own maple syrup.
The mashbill is 94% rye and 6% malted barley, and the whiskey is bottled at 43% ABV in a 75cl bottle.
The nose brings maple syrup, bananas foster, toasted brown sugar and cinnamon. The palate opens with graham cracker and toasted sugar, then crème brûlée, banana pudding and light fruit, with rye spice at the back. The finish is of medium length, with icing sugar, burnt maple and a hint of spice.
