WhistlePig Old World is a 12 year old rye whiskey bottled at 43% ABV. The rye is primarily Canadian-sourced and was matured for twelve years before a three-part finish inspired by European wine traditions.
The finished whiskey is a blend of roughly 63% Madeira-finished, 30% Sauternes-finished and 7% Port-finished rye.
Mixed berries, raisin, date and mint come through on the nose. The palate offers honeydew melon, red fruit, vanilla and baking spice, and the finish is medium in length with toasted toffee and a soft wine-cask warmth.
