WhistlePig PiggyBack is a 6 year old rye whiskey in a 750ml bottle. It is made from a 100% rye mash bill, pot-distilled in Alberta, Canada, then aged in new American oak and bottled at WhistlePig Farm in Shoreham, Vermont.
It was the last creation of Master Distiller Dave Pickerell, who designed it as a rye for cocktails. The 96.56 proof (48.3% ABV) is a tribute to his birth year, 1956, and the pig on the label wears his Stetson in place of the usual top hat.
Light amber in colour, it has cinnamon, black peppercorn and grapefruit zest on the nose. The palate is spicy, with cocoa, cardamom and cured leather, and the finish is long, with baking spice, vanilla and citrus.
