The Béhôlden is a 21 year old single malt whiskey from WhistlePig, distilled from 100% malted barley and aged in American oak. It marks the brand's move beyond rye into single malt.
The whiskey is then finished in WhistlePig rye whiskey barrels, which adds savoury spice, a little smoke and rye character to the malt. It is bottled at 46%.
The nose combines maple syrup, baked apple and stone fruit with cinnamon, vanilla and light oak. The palate is silky, with golden raisin, graham cracker, black cherry and malty sweetness as the spice builds. The finish is medium to long, with maple, praline and a smoky, spiced fade.
