Wild Turkey 101 is a Kentucky straight bourbon from the Wild Turkey Distillery in Lawrenceburg, bottled at 50.5% ABV (101 proof) in a large 1.75-litre bottle.
The mashbill is 75% corn, 13% rye and 12% malted barley. The spirit comes off the still at a low proof and matures for a minimum of five years in new American white oak barrels with a deep number 4 'alligator' char.
The nose offers brown sugar, baking spice, honey and dried orange peel. On the palate there is caramel, vanilla, black pepper, cinnamon and orange zest, followed by a long, warming finish of chilli heat, dried spice and toasted oak.
