Wild Turkey 101 is a Kentucky straight bourbon from the distillery in Lawrenceburg, bottled at 50.5% (101 proof) in a 750ml bottle.
The mashbill is 75% corn, 13% rye and 12% malted barley. It is aged for six to eight years in new American oak barrels with a deep number 4 char. The spirit goes into barrel at a lower proof than is usual, so less water is added before maturation.
The nose brings popcorn, toasty oak, toffee and vanilla. The palate is sweet with brown sugar and caramel, then rye spice, pepper and cinnamon. The finish is medium to long, with cinnamon and cayenne warmth.
