Wild Turkey 101 is a Kentucky straight bourbon in a 70cl bottle, bottled at 50.5% ABV, which is 101 proof.
It is a blend of bourbons aged for between five and eight years in American oak barrels. These are the heavily charred barrels known as 'No.4 Alligator', a name that comes from the rough, glossy surface left on the staves after a 55-second toasting.
The nose brings vanilla and caramel with honey and orange, deepening into toffee and oak. The palate is rich and powerful, with black pepper, other spices and a little dried fruit, and the finish is long with smoky notes.
