Wild Turkey – 101 Kentucky Straight Bourbon Whiskey (75cl, 50.5%)

Wild Turkey 101 is a Kentucky straight bourbon bottled at 50.5% ABV. It is distilled at a low proof and aged in heavily charred barrels, from a mash bill of 75% corn, 13% rye and 12% malted barley, a higher share of rye than most Kentucky bourbons. The name goes back to a 1940 wild turkey hunting trip, when bourbon from the distillery was shared among friends. Jimmy Russell has been master distiller since 1954, and his son Eddie is now co-master distiller. It is warm, spicy and richly flavoured, with pepper from the rye.
