Wild Turkey – American Honey (175cl, 35.5%)

A honey bourbon liqueur from the Wild Turkey Distillery in Lawrenceburg, Kentucky, bottled at 35.5% in a 1.75 litre bottle. The base is bourbon made from 75% corn, 13% rye and 12% malted barley, blended with honey and aged in American white oak barrels. Master Distiller Jimmy Russell devised the recipe in the 1970s, and it was first released around 1976 as Wild Turkey Liqueur with Honey. The nose is honey, caramel and candied lemon. On the palate come honey and spiced cookies, with lemon zest and orange peel. The finish is gently warming, with honeysuckle, toasted oak and vanilla.
