Wild Turkey – Austin Nichols Archives Gold Foil Edition 16 Year Old (75cl)

This is a 16 year old Kentucky bourbon from Wild Turkey, the first release in the Austin Nichols Archives Collection, an annual series that marks a new chapter under Associate Master Blender Bruce Russell. Gold Foil Edition draws on the bottlings fans nicknamed the "Cheesy Gold Foil", released between 1985 and 1992. It is not a copy of those whiskeys. It aims to match the complexity and weight of flavour typical of the so-called Glut Era, when older barrels were often blended into standard bottlings. The nose offers mature oak, dried fruit, cinnamon, nutmeg and walnut. On the palate come cherry cola, clove, dark caramel, tobacco and cocoa, and the finish is very long, with peppery spice, brown sugar, oak tannins and leather.
