Wild Turkey Rare Breed Rye (75cl, 56.1%)

Wild Turkey Rare Breed Rye is a barrel proof Kentucky straight rye whiskey from Lawrenceburg, bottled at 56.1% without chill filtration in a 75cl bottle. The mashbill is 51% rye, 37% corn and 12% malted barley, and the whiskey ages in new charred American oak. Wild Turkey enters its distillate into the barrel at a low proof, which lets it draw more from the wood. The nose is bright, with lemon zest, green apple, caramel and pie crust, over cinnamon and black pepper. The palate starts with vanilla and toffee, then rye spice, orange peel, liquorice and honey. The finish is long and warming, with baking spice and toasted oak.
