Wildcatter is an eight-year-old Kentucky straight bourbon in a 75cl bottle at 45% ABV. It is bottled by Elite Brands in Fairfield, California.
The bourbon was aged in new charred oak. The label revives the name of a Texas oil-country bourbon brand, and its artwork follows a roughneck character, Billy Banks.
The nose is dark fruit, caramel, vanilla and butterscotch with spice, wood and sweet cream. The palate adds dried apricot and oak in a full, round, lightly syrupy body. The finish is long, spicy and woody, with peppercorn at the end.
