Wilderness Trail Barrel Proof Rye Whiskey (75cl)

This is a Kentucky straight rye from Wilderness Trail, drawn from a single barrel and bottled at cask strength in a 750ml bottle. Nothing is added to bring it to a set strength, so the proof is that of the individual barrel. It was made by sweet mash at the distillery in Danville, Kentucky, from 56% rye, 33% corn and 11% malted barley, using Kentucky-grown Heritage rye. The spirit went into new air-dried, number 4 char barrels, and it is bottled unfiltered. The producer describes sweet baking spices, oak and dark fruits on the nose. The palate brings clove and white pepper, opening into candied flowers, spearmint and Earl Grey tea, and the finish is long and floral with spearmint sweetness and a warming oak grip.
