Wilderness Trail – Single Barrel Rye

This is a Kentucky straight rye whiskey from Wilderness Trail, released as a single barrel at cask strength. It is distilled in column stills from a sweet mash. The mash bill is 56 percent rye, 33 percent corn and 11 percent malted barley, using Kentucky-grown Heritage rye. The whiskey goes into new, air-dried, number 4 char, 53-gallon barrels at 100 or 105 proof, and ages on the upper floors of the rickhouses for a minimum of 4 years. Regular expressions are expected to be between 6 and 8 years old.
