Wilderness Trail Small Batch Bottled in Bond is a Kentucky straight bourbon in a 750ml bottle, bottled at 50% ABV. It is made at the Wilderness Trail Distillery in Danville, Kentucky, by sweet mash, with fresh yeast for every batch and no backset.
The recipe is 64% corn, 24% rye and 12% malted barley, and each small batch is drawn from a single fermenter. The spirit goes into cooper-select barrels made from 18-month air-dried staves with a #4 char, entering at 110 proof, and it is aged for at least four years to meet bottled-in-bond rules.
The nose offers sweet baking spices, oak and dark fruits. The palate is smooth and sweet, with tobacco, brambly fruits, leather and a hint of smoke, and the finish is long and rye-led with warm oaky sweetness.
