Willett Family Estate 4 Year Old is a small-batch rye bottled at cask strength, at 55% ABV. It combines two mash bills: a high-rye one of 74% rye, 11% corn and 15% malted barley, and a lower-rye one of 51% rye, 34% corn and 15% malted barley.
The whiskey was aged for four years in hand-selected white oak barrels and bottled unfiltered.
The nose opens with tart cherry, baking spices and a touch of oak, with vanilla wafer, light caramel and red fruit behind. The palate is smooth and oily, with dark cherries, charred vanilla and rye spice. The finish is medium to long, with warming spice and lingering cherry.
