This is a single-barrel straight rye from Willett, aged for eight years in new char #4 American oak. It comes from barrel number 2327 and is bottled at barrel strength, 52.1% ABV (104.2 proof), without chill-filtration. It was handcrafted in Kentucky.
The nose opens with caramel and butterscotch, then gingerbread, dried herbs, toasted sesame, clove, nutmeg and cinnamon. The palate brings lemon drop, rhubarb and peppered papaya, with a cool menthol note and warming baking spices. The finish is sweet and spicy, with honeyed tea, cinnamon, rosemary, mint and citrus peel.
