William Larue Weller is a wheated bourbon from the Buffalo Trace Antique Collection. This 2018 release is bottled at 125.7 proof (62.9%), barrel proof, uncut and unfiltered, and bottled by hand. Wheat takes the place of the usual rye in the grain recipe, a method pioneered by W.L. Weller. The bourbon is aged in a prime position in the Buffalo Trace warehouse. The nose brings caramel corn, new leather, plums, light toffee and pipe tobacco. On the palate come marshmallow, salted almonds, nougat, figs and dates, leading to a smooth, sweet finish.
