William Larue Weller 2019 Release (75cl, 64%)

William Larue Weller is a Kentucky straight bourbon from Buffalo Trace distillery, named after the pioneering distiller WL Weller. This is the 2019 edition, aged for 12 years and bottled at barrel proof, 64% ABV, in a 75cl bottle. It is a wheated bourbon: wheat replaces the traditional rye in the mash bill. The whiskey is uncut, unfiltered and hand-bottled, and forms part of the distillery's Antique Collection. The producer's notes describe a nose of caramel corn, new leather, plums, light toffee and pipe tobacco. The palate brings marshmallow, salted almonds, nougat, figs and dates, followed by a smooth, sweet finish.
