William Larue Weller Straight Bourbon Whiskey 2023 (75cl, 66.8%)

William Larue Weller is a wheated Kentucky straight bourbon from Buffalo Trace Distillery in Frankfort, part of the fall 2023 Antique Collection. It is bottled at barrel strength, 66.8%, in a 750ml bottle, without chill filtration or added water. The bourbon was distilled in spring 2011 and bottled at 12 years and 6 months. Wheat takes the place of rye as the secondary grain, and the name honours William Larue Weller, credited as one of the first distillers to use wheat in bourbon. The 2023 release drew on warehouses C, L, M and N. The nose is candied dark brown sugar and vanilla bean. The palate brings stewed cherry and brown sugar crumble, and the finish is robust and dense, with baking spice and a hint of maple syrup.
