Speybridge 2011 is a Speyside single malt bottled by Wilson & Morgan as part of its Barrel Selection, at 57.1% ABV in a 70cl bottle. It had a 14-month finish in former Oloroso sherry casks, which gives it a wine-like character, and 776 bottles were filled.
The nose is dominated by sherry: very dry, tight and tannic, with hints of aperitif bitterness, orange peel and roasted chestnuts. On the palate the Oloroso character is intense, with grain, flour, bitter cocoa and a little tamarind over a muted honey sweetness. The finish brings the sweetness forward alongside a strong burst of spice and tannin.
