This is a 30-year-old Speyside single malt, distilled in 1991 and bottled by Wilson & Morgan at 54.5%. A refill sherry cask holding Oloroso gave the whisky complexity and maturity while keeping the rich, malty character of the spirit in balance with the fruity, nutty influence of the sherry.
The nose plays between dry austerity and sultanas, wine and malty freshness, roasted chestnuts and old bookshelves. The palate is clean, fruity and spicy, with a creamy note of candied orange and a bitter, aperitif-like edge set against raisin sweetness. The lasting finish turns peppery, mineral and nutty.
