Wolfburn – Kaunaz - Kylver Series #6 is a single malt whisky from Wolfburn (Highland). Bottled at 50% ABV, 70cl. The most northerly whisky distillery on the Scottish mainland is situated in Thurso in the county of Caithness and Scotland's Highlands whisky region. Wolfburn, named after the watercourse that supplies the distillery, was originally owned and operated by William Smith in 1821 before operation ceased in 1837. Laying dormant until 2012 when a private consortium called Aurora Brewing formed to rebuild Wolfburn 350 meters from the original distillery ruins. Whisky production resumed in 2013 after 157 years. The Kylver series follows the Viking runic alphabet engraved on a large stone excavated in Gotland (Sweden) in 1903. Kaunaz This is the 2020 release from the sought after Wolfburn Kylver range which is the sixth in the series. Kaunaz was drawn from 2014 vintage first-fill bourbon barrels and bottled at 50% ABV.
