Wolfburn Northland is an 8-year-old Highland single malt from Wolfburn, Scotland's northernmost mainland distillery. The distillery was rebuilt at Thurso in Caithness in 2013 on a site dating back to 1821. It is bottled at 46%, non-chill-filtered and of natural colour.
The whisky was matured in first-fill ex-bourbon quarter casks, re-coopered by the Islay Cooperage, and is double-distilled from lightly peated barley at 5 ppm.
The nose is gentle smoke and honey with fresh-cut oak. On the palate come vanilla custard, caramelised nuts and a thread of sea air. The finish is medium-long, with warming spice and a last wisp of peat.
