Wolves The Malted Barley Series Single Malt Whiskey, First Release (75cl, 55%)

This is the first American single malt from Wolves, the California brand, and the opening release of its Malted Barley Series. It was distilled in 2015 by Marko Karakasevic at Charbay Distillery and released in April 2023, at 55% ABV. It is a blend of eleven barrels, made from 100% two-row pale malted barley and fermented with California Ale yeast. The spirit was double-distilled in a small alembic pot still and rested under alternating Hungarian and American oak heads. Each bottle is hand-numbered and wrapped in sheepskin. The brand's notes give honey, grapefruit, vanilla, oak and sandalwood on the nose. The palate brings maple syrup, currants, leather, orange cake and warm vanilla, followed by a medium-length finish.
