Woodford Reserve is a Kentucky straight bourbon bottled at 45.2% ABV, here in a large 1.75 litre bottle. It is made at Woodford Reserve Distillery in Versailles, from a mashbill of 72% corn, 18% rye and 10% malted barley.
The spirit is a blend of triple-distilled copper pot still distillate from Versailles and column still distillate from Brown-Forman's site in Shively, Kentucky.
The nose combines dried fruit, butterscotch, mint, orange zest and cocoa, with vanilla cream and honey. The palate is sweet and creamy, with caramel, vanilla, cinnamon and a touch of citrus. The finish is medium-long and rather dry, with oak, leather and a faint smoky note.
