Woodford Reserve Double Double Oaked is a Kentucky straight bourbon from the Woodford Reserve Distillery, released annually and bottled at 45.2% ABV in a 70cl bottle.
It starts as Woodford Reserve Double Oaked, which has already spent time in a second new charred oak barrel. That bourbon then goes into a third barrel of heavily toasted, lightly charred new American oak, where it rests for about two years. The mashbill is 72% corn, 18% rye and 10% malted barley.
The nose offers maple syrup, butterscotch and bittersweet chocolate, with hickory smoke beneath. The palate brings dried cherry, blackberry jam, chai and clove, and the finish is long and tannic, with dark chocolate and wood smoke.
