Woodford Reserve Double Oaked is a bourbon bottled at 45.2% ABV in a 75cl bottle. It begins as Distiller's Select, from a mash bill of 72% corn, 18% rye and 10% malted barley, aged in a new charred oak barrel. It then moves to a second barrel that is deeply toasted for 40 minutes and lightly charred.
The nose brings dark fruit such as blackberry and cherry, vanilla, caramel, toasted marshmallow, honey, chocolate, marzipan and roasted nuts. The palate has cinnamon and warm oak, dark berries, chocolate-covered cherries, caramel and vanilla bean ice cream. The finish is moderately long, with oak sweetness, leather, dark chocolate and tobacco leaf.
