Woodford Reserve Double Oaked Rye is a Kentucky straight rye whiskey bottled at 45.2% ABV in a 750ml bottle. It was distilled at the Woodford Reserve Distillery in Versailles, Kentucky.
The rye first matures in new charred oak, then moves to a second barrel that is deeply toasted and only lightly charred for its finish. Toasting caramelises the wood sugars, which gives a sweeter, rounder oak influence over the rye's natural spice. It carries no age statement.
The nose shows toasted oak, caramel and dried cherry, and the palate brown sugar, baking spice, dark fruit and rye pepper, ending long and soft.
