Woodford Reserve Double Oaked Rye is a Kentucky straight rye whiskey finished in a second oak barrel. It is bottled at 45.2% ABV (90.4 proof) in a 750ml bottle and belongs to the Barrel Finish Select range.
The second barrel is meant to add toasted wood and caramelised sweetness to the spice of the rye.
The nose offers seasoned leather, aromatic cedar, dark fruit, toasted nuts, chocolate and sweet oak. On the palate come warm baking spice, roasted coffee, dark fruit and rye spice. The finish is long, with dark caramel, molasses, dried fruit and lingering spice.
