Woodford Reserve Kentucky Straight Malt is a straight malt whiskey made at Versailles, Kentucky, and bottled in a 75cl bottle at 45.2% ABV (90.4 proof). It joined the Distiller's Select range in 2018, created by Master Distiller Chris Morris from historical Kentucky malt recipes.
The grain recipe is 51% malted barley, 47% corn and 2% rye, aged in new charred oak barrels. It was made with bourbon drinkers in mind.
The nose is soft and nutty, with light caramel, milk chocolate, apple, dried and tropical fruit, brown spice, mint and toasted oak. On the palate come dark chocolate, caramel-coated nuts, cocoa and toasted coconut. The finish is nutty, with subtly sweet chocolate-malt.
