Woodford Reserve – Master's Collection No. 17 Five Malt Stouted Mash (45.2%)

This is a Kentucky whiskey from Woodford Reserve's Master's Collection, released as a limited edition and bottled at 90.4 proof (45.2%). It is No. 17 in the series. The mash uses five malted grains: distiller's malt, wheat malt, pale chocolate malt, Carafa 1 and kiln coffee malt. The aim was to echo the roasted character of a classic stout beer while still tasting like Woodford Reserve. The colour is a warm antique orange. The nose is roasted malt, toasted nuts, milk chocolate and cherry cobbler, with orange zest, spearmint, baking spices and subtle oak. The palate is rich and malty, with hazelnut, cocoa and baked fruit, and the finish is long and velvety.
