Woodford Reserve – Single Barrel 'Spirit of 1776' 110 Proof (75cl, 55%)

This is a Woodford Reserve Single Barrel, a Kentucky straight bourbon from the Distiller's Select range, made under Master Distiller Elizabeth McCall. It is bottled at 110 proof (55% ABV) in a 75cl bottle, from batch 210697. It is a private barrel selection chosen to mark 250 years of American independence, and each bottle carries a sticker showing the Founding Fathers and the words 'Spirit of 1776'. The nose is rich, with dark caramel, toasted oak and vanilla bean, plus a little dark cherry and marzipan. On the palate come dark chocolate, baking spices and butterscotch over firm oak. The finish is long and warm, with toasted pecan, sweet tobacco and gentle rye spice.
