This is a 10 year old Jamaican rum from Worthy Park, distilled in a copper pot still. It was first aged in an ex-bourbon cask and then given a second maturation in an ex-Calvados cask. It is a limited bottling, with no added sugar or additives.
Worthy Park's sugar mill has made sugar and molasses on the estate since 1720, and that molasses is used for all of its rum.
The Calvados cask shows at once on the nose, alongside the house character: banana and sapodilla, apple and floral notes, sweet caramel, a little vanilla and cinnamon, and a subtle smokiness. The palate is more restrained in sweetness, with those fruit flavours woven through. The finish carries a near-menthol coolness with faint caramel and dark chocolate.
