Writers Tears Cask Strength is an Irish whiskey from Walsh Whisky, and the 2021 release is the eleventh annual edition. It is a vatting of single pot still and single malt whiskeys.
The whiskeys are triple distilled and aged for 8 to 10 years in large ex-bourbon oak casks. It is bottled at 53%, non-chill-filtered, in an edition of 4,500 bottles, each signed by founder Bernard Walsh.
The nose offers dark chocolate, blackberries, banana, apricot, barley and vanilla. On the palate come caramel, woody oak, toast, pineapple and coconut.
