Writers' Tears Marsala Cask Finish is a limited-edition Irish whiskey in a 750ml bottle, bottled at 45% ABV and non-chill-filtered. It marries single pot still and single malt Irish whiskey, triple-distilled in copper pot stills.
The whiskey then spends a further 12 months in Marsala hogsheads from the Florio winery in Sicily. It is made by Walsh Whiskey of County Carlow, the family business founded in 1999 by Bernard and Rosemary Walsh.
Golden syrup and orchard fruit meet earthy notes and dried fruit on the nose. The palate offers caramelised apple, nutty spice and wildflower honey, and the finish has a gentle saline lift.
