WV Baker & Cie Rare Brandy Rombo Single Cask (70cl, 46%)

This is a Spanish brandy that has aged in France for at least 15 years. It was selected by the independent bottler Benjamin Baker, a former RAF pilot who now works from cellars near Saintes in the Cognac region. It was bottled in 2025 from a single cask, yielding 60 numbered bottles, at 46% abv. It is deep amber in colour. The nose is persistent, with lilies, cherry cola, pain au chocolat, caramel and plump vanilla pods. The palate is rich and full, with a little sweetness alongside chocolate, dried fruit and caramel. The finish is long, with floral notes and a distinct rancio character. It is best taken neat, with a few minutes in the glass.
