Yamato Original Edition Japanese Whisky (75cl, 40%)

Yamato Original Edition is a Japanese blended whisky at 40% ABV in a 75cl bottle. It combines malted Scotch whisky with distillate from grain grown in Yamanashi Prefecture, using whiskies of three to eight years old matured in Mizunara, Japanese oak, barrels. It is not chill filtered. The brand was created by Aiko Importers, and the Japanese characters on the label translate as "great harmony". The tasting notes describe a licorice and bourbon-cask nose with toasted honeycomb and toffee. The palate is barley-oak sweetness with light anise, molasses, vanilla and nougat, hazelnuts arriving late, and the finish is round vanilla and soft oak with toffee.
