Yamazaki Golden Promise is a 48% single malt from the Yamazaki Distillery in Japan, in a 70cl bottle. It is the 2024 Tsukuriwake Selection edition, released in June 2024, distilled in 2009 and matured for about 15 years in American oak casks.
The release is built around Golden Promise, a heritage Scottish barley that shaped the character of well-known Scotch whiskies in the 1960s and 1970s. Tsukuriwake refers to the art of diversity in whisky-making.
The colour is barley gold. The nose offers sweet malt, vanilla and honey. The palate is rich and textured, with orange marmalade, vanilla pudding and toasted malt, leading to a sweet, fruity finish with long citrus notes.
