Yamazaki – Kogei Collection Peated Malt Spanish Oak (70cl, 43%)

This is a Japanese single malt from Yamazaki, released in 2024 as part of the Kogei Collection. It matured in Spanish oak casks, which gave it a deep, dark amber colour, and it is bottled at 43% in a 70cl bottle without added colouring or chill-filtration. The edition was made in collaboration with Chiso, a kimono maker from Kyoto. The label and packaging use traditional dyeing methods and gold thread work. The nose offers gentle smoke with rich floral aromas, bitter orange marmalade and dark chocolate. The palate has a refined smokiness, soft sweetness and a hint of citrus.
