This is the 2017 Limited Edition single malt from Yamazaki, the distillery near Kyoto founded in 1923 by Shinjiro Torii. It was matured in a mix of American oak, Spanish sherry oak and Mizunara Japanese oak.
The nose is described as coconut, incense and spice from the Mizunara, with dried fruit and vanilla from the sherry and American oak. The palate is layered, with the three cask types working together, and it ends in a long, warm finish of incense and sandalwood with a slightly smoky edge.
