Yellow Rose Straight Rye is a Texas rye whiskey bottled at 45% by Yellow Rose Distilling in Houston, the city's first legal whiskey distillery. The whiskey is sourced, then hand selected, blended and bottled at the distillery's Texas facility.
It is made in small batches from a mash bill of 95% rye and 5% malted barley, in the style of pre-prohibition American rye.
The nose is mild and sweet, with vanilla, pine, brown sugar, fresh mint and caramel. Spearmint, mild pepper and maple lead the palate, and the medium finish is less peppery than is usual for rye, with gentle spice and a hint of oak.
