Yellow Spot is an Irish whiskey bonded and bottled by The Mitchells, a seventh generation family business in Dublin. It takes its name from the early 1900s practice of marking barrels with spots of coloured paint to show their age potential.
The whiskey has matured for a full 12 years in three types of oak cask: American bourbon barrels, Spanish sherry butts and Spanish Malaga casks. It spends that time in all three rather than being given a short finish, and the Malaga casks bring a sweet note to the whiskey.
