Yellow Spot 12 Year Old is a single pot still Irish whiskey made at Midleton Distillery in County Cork for Mitchell & Son of Dublin. It is triple distilled in copper pot stills from malted and unmalted barley, and bottled at 46% without chill-filtration in a 750ml bottle.
All twelve years are spent in three types of oak, rather than as a short finish: American bourbon barrels, Spanish sherry butts and Spanish Malaga sweet-wine casks. Mitchell & Son describe the Malaga wood as adding an exotic sweet note. The Spot brand was relaunched in 2012, after being discontinued in the 1960s.
