A 16-year-old straight bourbon distilled in 1974 at Michter's Pot Still Distillery in Schaefferstown, Pennsylvania, in a 75cl bottle. The spirit was made in a pot still rather than the column stills usual for bourbon, to the order of Adolph Hirsch. This is the Gold Foil presentation of the Reserve.
Michter's closed in 1990, and the barrels were moved to Kentucky to continue ageing before being bottled at 16 years old.
The nose brings dried fruit, leather, beeswax and honey, with a pot still character. The palate is rich and full-bodied, with caramel, dried fruit and aged oak. The finish is very long and warm, developing through several stages.
