Aberargie Barley Expressions Laureate is a Lowland single malt Scotch whisky bottled at 48.2%. It comes from a series by Aberargie Distillery, part of Morrison Distillers, that explores how a particular barley variety shapes the spirit.
This expression is made entirely from Laureate, a modern, resilient barley. It was matured in 32% first-fill bourbon barrels and 68% first-fill sherry butts.
The nose is fresh and elegant, with crisp pear and heather, and candied orange peel and raisins emerging with time. The palate is fruity, with poached pear and a creamy sweetness, and the finish is long and honeyed.
Tasting Notes
Fresh, lively and elegant, with cereal sweetness, heather and juicy crisp pear; with time candied orange peel, raisins and dried fruit
Fruity and clearly structured, with poached pears, ripe orchard fruit, a creamy crème brûlée sweetness, dark oak and dried fruit, without bitterness
Long and honeyed, with well-integrated spicy oak and a slightly herbal aftertaste
