This is an 18 year old Aberfeldy from the Exceptional Cask Series, a double cask bottling finished in sherry casks and bottled at 52% in a 70cl bottle. Malt Master Stephanie Macleod hand-selected it for the series.
The nose is full of dark fruit, toffee, figs, Christmas cake and muted spice. The palate is intense and spicy, with clove, cinnamon and black pepper, then Christmas cake, toffee and slight oak. Water softens the spice and brings out fruitier notes. The finish is long, balancing spice and toffee sweetness.
