This is a 12 year old Speyside single malt from Aberlour, bottled at 40% vol in a 70cl bottle. It is matured for the whole of its time in two kinds of cask, ex-bourbon and ex-sherry, rather than being given a short finish.
The sherry casks include 500-litre butts, and they are combined with traditional oak.
The nose is soft and round, with fruity notes of red apple. The palate has sherry character and fruit, balanced by chocolate, toffee, cinnamon and ginger. The finish is long and warming, with light smoke and a pleasant bite.
