Aberlour – 21 Year Old 1996 Montgomerie's Rare Select Single Bourbon Cask (2017) (70cl, 46%)

This Aberlour is a 21 year old Speyside single malt from a single bourbon cask, bottled by Montgomerie's in its Rare Select series at 46% in a 70cl bottle. It yielded 324 bottles. The whisky was distilled in February 1996, filled into the cask and left for 21 years before bottling in September 2017. The nose offers toffee apple, black pepper, toasted sesame seeds and sugary shortbread. On the palate come golden syrup, sponge cake, cinnamon rolls and leafy herbs, and the finish carries a few hints of ginger and black tea.
